From today’s Daily Prompt: Why Can’t We Be Friends
I’d Rather be Home
~
Though I smile wide and bright
I take no delight
Meeting new friends, causes me fright
~
Please don’t tell me to mingle
The thought makes me tingle
I’d rather sit silently, happily single
~
You can safely deduce
If I have an excuse
I’ll be avoiding this cause to bemuse
~
How do others chit chat and mix
When I see no fix?
I am lacking this social bag of tricks
~
Alone in the crowd
Voices blurry and loud
I’d rather lie in an unheard death-shroud
~
But
Often there’s one
Eyes like a quiet night’s sun
Depth showing possible connection
~
Though alone in a corner
There’s strength in this foreigner
I’m no longer this gathering’s sole mourner
~
For an evening or more
I’ve a soul to explore
This event, no longer an uncomfortable bore
